In Memoriam: Ed McMahon

Word has come over the news wires that Ed McMahon, the longtime sidekick of Johnny Carson on The Tonight Show and pitchman of everything from Publishers Clearing House sweepstakes to Budweiser beer, has died at the age of 86. What does this have to do with Lino, you ask? The photo above is your answer: McMahon was visiting the Sirius Satellite Radio studios back in late 2007, and Lino and then-producer Maureen McMurray managed to pull him into the studio to sit down and chat for a few minutes. After leaving the studio he left his water bottle behind, and it ended up being offered as one of the prizes on the earliest installments of Let's Make A Catholic Deal... if you listen to the game's intro, you can still hear Lino mention it.

UPDATE 2:15pm ET: Lino confirms on Twitter that his interview with Ed McMahon from 2007 will be rebroadcast on this afternoon's program. Be sure to tune in!

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
